FOTB 2010 Titles – Magnetic Properties
This year's titles for FOTB were created by Nando Costa through the use of macro motion pictures and materials with magnetic properties. The choice of materials was driven by the desire to graphically represent the concepts of attraction and repulsion. The idea that graphic artists of all sorts attend events such as FOTB because they are inspired and therefore attracted to each other's work, while at the same time often competing in the same fields as peers, which represents the repulsion factor. Google Instant with Bob Dylan
Search as fast as Bob Dylan sings with Google Instant. Google Instant is a new search enhancement that shows results as you type. We are pushing the limits of our technology and infrastructure to help you get better search results, faster. Our key technical insight was that people type slowly, but read quickly, typically taking 300 milliseconds between keystrokes, but only 30 milliseconds (a tenth of the time!) to glance at another part of the page. This means that you can scan a results page while you type.

How to start a Fire with Ikea-Stuff
The artist Helmut Smit makes a fire from an Ikea rope, hanger, wine rack, egg cup, napkins, and floral embellishments. This project called the FLAMMA (A Basic Need) "FLAMMA harks back to one of humanity’s basic needs: making fire. I thought it would be interesting to go into IKEA as if I was a primitive human being and make fire using products found there. The project also fits the back-to-basics image of IKEA and the Swedish lifestyle. IKEA does not, however, sell lighters or matches."

Augmented City 3D
Hope you saved your 3D-galsses (Red and green). Welcome to Augmented (Hyper) Reality! The architecture of the contemporary city is no longer simply about the physical space of buildings and landscape, more and more it is about the synthetic spaces created by the digital information that we collect, consume and organise; an immersive interface may become as much part of the world we inhabit as the buildings around us. Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology defined by its ability to overlay physical space with information. It is part of a paradigm shift that succeeds Virtual Reality; instead of disembodied occupation of virtual worlds, the physical and virtual are seen together as a contiguous, layered and dynamic whole. It may lead to a world where media is indistinguishable from 'reality'. The spatial organisation of data has important implications for architecture, as we re-evaluate the city as an immersive human-computer interface.
