The Live Tile Experiment
Tweet
Microsoft may be under legal fire for the Live Tile functionality in their Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 OS, but that will not stop them from promoting the hell out it. In fact, Microsoft just partnered with Norwegian electro rock band Datarock to bring Live Tile functionality to unsuspecting Oslo residents. The clueless pedestrians quickly go from the quiet street experience that they’ve signed up for, to a raging electro rock block party. Note: brace yourself, the look on this man’s face is priceless.

Now My Brain Hurts: Impressive Anamorphic Illusions
Tweet
This is a series of anamorphic illusions. Basically they're photo-realistic prints that, when viewed from just the right angle, look like what they're supposed to. But if you move them, you see just how distorted the actual image is. Be careful though, you might get a headache. I got a headache. "That's a hangover." Shhhhhhhhh! I'm going to tell my boss it's a migraine and try to leave at lunch.

Old Spice | Dikembe Mutombo's 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World.
Perhaps the most ridiculous yet fantastic and halarious piece of 8-bit
advergame madness I’ve seen this year, is this piece from Old Spice called
‘Dikembe Mutombo’s 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World’ game which starts on
YouTube and is played out on a microsite here.
Weirdly, the entire thing is tied into a live streaming countdown of a
machine carving out an ancient Mayan ring!

Africa for Norway
Tweet
Imagine if every person in Africa saw the "Africa for Norway" video and this was the only information they ever got about Norway. What would they think about Norway?
If we say Africa, what do you think about? Hunger, poverty, crime or AIDS? No wonder, because in fundraising campaigns and media that's mainly what you hear about.
The pictures we usually see in fundraisers are of poor African children. Hunger and poverty is ugly, and it calls for action. But while these images can engage people in the short term, we are concerned that many people simply give up because it seems like nothing is getting better. Africa should not just be something that people either give to, or give up on.
The truth is that there are many positive developments in African countries, and we want these to become known. We need to change the simplistic explanations of problems in Africa. We need to educate ourselves on the complex issues and get more focus on how western countries have a negative impact on Africa's development. If we want to address the problems the world is facing we need to do it based on knowledge and respect.
The video is made by The Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (www.saih.no). With the cooperation of Operation Day's Work (www.od.no). With funding from The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and The Norwegian Children and Youth Council (LNU). Music by Wathiq Hoosain. Lyrics by Bretton Woods (www.developingcountry.org). Video by Ikind Productions (www.ikindmedia.com)
